A love story about a middle-aged compression sock businessman from Detroit who unexpectedly falls for his cardiac nurse, a Nigerian immigrant, while recovering from a heart attack and sets his sights on winning her over. Undaunted by Abishola’s lack of initial interest or the vast differences in their backgrounds, Bob is determined to win Abishola’s heart, in this comedic examination of immigrant life in America.
New episode this Monday!
S05.E10: Diamonds Are Made to Sparkle
When Bob second-guesses selling MaxDot, a new buyer presents a compelling offer. Also, the prospect of new wealth has Abishola stuck between her conservative nature to hide it and Nigerian pressure to flaunt it.

Sounds like a very good episode for Abishola.
I think so, too. I’m looking forward to it.
I need to get back into watching this show.
Throw soft stuff: Mostly it is because the actor playing Bob is very hard to look at since he got on diabetic meds and lost so much weight.
The extreme weight loss has aged him but I am glad he’s healthy.
This season has been quite good overall so naturally it’s the last, lol.
While I wasn’t expecting Goodwin to buy the company, I’m glad it’s staying in the ‘family.’
Abishola strutting around with her $1000 shoes made me laugh. Considering how frugal she has been proven to be, I’ll allow the expenditure.
Her mother, however, needs to stop inviting everyone to the fictional lake house that Bob is buying with the sale of MaxDot.
Wait. Is it ozempic?
I thought he might have had a stomach surgery but maybe it’s a mix of both. I’m not sure.
Okay apparently he did commercials for ozempic saying he needed it to lower his numbers and lose weight and also he has had biiatric (sp) surgery. Doesn’t matter he is painful to look at.
I am going to catch the show once I find it streaming or in syndication and finish the episodes I missed. I used to love it.
I like this episode.
Dele didn’t get into Julliard but it was still fun. It was nice to see a lighter side to Abishola. Too bad we never met her brother before now because he brought out a much softer side to her. And who the heck would have guessed that Abishola could play the guitar?
The actor playing the brother also plays Geoffrey on Bel-air but it took me a few minutes to place him.
And Abishola’s musical dream sequence was so much fun. Bob and Abishola both had some nice moves.
I’m going to miss this show when it ends.
Okay, Kemi 's wedding was great. I loved the dancing down the aisle and the headdresses on Abishola and the other nurse whose name I forgot were lovely. The fabric was stunning. I think there’s only one episode left. I will miss this show.
Gloria!
I loved the wedding. All weddings on any show or movie need to be funny like that. My mind usually wanders during weddings. The only other one I can think of that was good was Jake and Amy on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
I’m a little sad no one has commented yet on the series finale.
I liked the jump ahead, and that everyone was well and happy because I’m a sucker for a nice happy ending.
Maxine was adorable but I felt for her having a neurotic mother, lol.
Nice that Abishola became a doctor, and that Dele is doing theater. I also liked that Gloria and Kemi are happy and thriving.
And Abishola’s mother married the pastor!!
I loved Olu and Tunde and Tunde’s moustache, heh.
And lastly, it was weird seeing all those flashbacks of Bob and Abishola. Bob has lost so much weight it was almost like looking at a stranger.
I will be really sad not to have this show on my TV schedule next year.
Hi @jewel21 . I loved the finale. Glad they did do the time jump.
Things I liked:
Abishola is a doctor.
Bob is retired.
Goodwin running Maxdot
Kemi and her food truck
Christina has a daughter she named after her father
Things I wished they did:
Douglas marries the bus driver
Things that went huh?
Chukwuemeka helping Kemi with the food truck (but I guess show needed a way to add him to the finale). He could have been on a break from the pharmacy and bickering with Kemi about his food or something.
The difference in Billy Gardell and his weight loss is amazing.
Hi!
I also would have liked to have seen Douglas and the bus driver married. And I agree that Chukwuemeka working a the food truck was weird. I think it would have been funnier to have his mother working at the food truck with Kemi, and Chukwuemeka just being there for lunch and trying to ease the tension between them.
ohhhh Jewel. Kemi and Chu’s mom at the food truck would have been gold!
I thought the finale was very nice. Everything wrapped up nicely and the characters received good, logical endings.
1 thing though: the finale really highlighted how undeveloped Douglas’s character was through most of the show. By the end, he still works in the same place, he is still the same, nothing changed for him. And we don’t know anything about him besides the fact that he still works for MaxDot. That is all, nothing more.
Yup, not even a throwaway line that Douglas’ wife is at home or something to indicate he has anything going on outside of his job. It’s sad really because I always had a soft spot for Douglas.
