Follows couples who have an existing relationship online, but haven’t met in person and lets the viewer experience each couple’s journey as they travel to the other’s foreign country for the first time in an attempt to establish an in-person relationship and start the K-1 visa process.
I have questions. How is the homeless dude able to afford a ticket to go overseas?!?
“Afford” is relative. He’s bouncing from friend to friend, so he probably does have income but rather than working toward living independently (or a permanent situation with a roommate) he’s couch surfing. I just don’t want Loren to break Faith’s heart. I trust Faith way more than I trust HIM! She seems genuine.
Brian seems to be a decent guy, but he’s so flighty! All of these marriages and engagements, I understand why her daughter is weary- his daughter is so pretty but she must look like her Mom, I didn’t see his face at all. Brian is handsome, and outgoing- yes there are a lot of biases against people with disabilities regarding relationships (and it’s worse for heterosexual men) but there’s a reason why he keeps repeating this pattern that has nothing to do with those biases.

Loren (according the the IG tea spillers) is couch surfing and not making enough money so he can avoid paying child support.
That doesn’t surprise me at all.

Veah I am very sorry for her upbringing and losing her brother so tragically. It’s clear Rory still cares for her a lot, I am sorry they couldn’t work it out, but that often happens. She seems to be doing well practically (job and stability) given how she grew up, but I can tell she has a lot set on this relationship with Sunny working out and they haven’t even met in person yet!!
Brian and Ingrid- So I do think Brian has some issues to work through (all the marriages and engagements), but I do think Ingrid is not being fair regarding his past. She has every right to be shocked and upset, but it was 30 years ago. THREE years go, okay her concerns would be valid, but I do not believe that Brian is involved in drug trafficking or anything like that any longer. Likely after his accident, and I assume his wife was convicted given he mentioned her confessing, he had to raise his daughter and adjust to life with his disability, he probably would never touch that life again. But I do. not believe he just told his wife he was leaving her and she ordered the car jacking because of that, likely something else was going on with the business and she was trying to remove him as a rival, in addition to the hurt over their interpersonal relationship. But again it was 30yrs ago and he has lived a law abiding life since then.
Niles and Matilda- we have not gotten to know Matilda that well yet, but Niles seems so sweet! I want these two to fall in love and be a success. I dont think they should get married right away, he should visit and then if it goes well, save up and make plan to get married on the second trip OR bring her here on a K-1. He doesnt make a lot of money (hence having to take on a second job to afford the trip) but his expenses are likely low, so if he plans and saves it won’t be a financial stress. I do want her family to accept him.

I do think Niles was wrong for not telling Matilda there wouldn’t be a wedding this trip. Her family is planning everything and he’s just “going with the flow”, NOT COOL dude!

Yeah but there are a few good excuses he can use now that would work. Them being:
- He wants his parents there for the wedding.
- He cant pay the bride price right now
But I still don’t like Matilda, I really think she just wants the 'American dream".
But from a cultural point of view I understand why Matilda is embarrassed. In Ghana engagements are short, it’s basically the “public announcement” with a wedding following in a month or a few weeks. For Niles to propose and KNOW she’s having her family get everything ready for a wedding during his visit is manipulative. He should’ve said “I do want to marry you, but this trip is for us to meet in person and me to meet your family, we will start the process of planning a wedding/immigration after that.”
But Niles is so happy to have someone who seems to like him for him he didn’t want to mess it up. I like Matilda so far, yes she wants to come to the USA but I think her affection for Niles is genuine and she would be a good wife to him. She doesn’t see his autism as something that hinders their relationship, and she’s been honest about wanting to leave her village. Looks like she’s been more straight forward than he has been.
I do give Niles credit for working extra and saving for the visit before hand rather than just charging everything.
I want these two to make it.
Brian continues to be a creep, run Ingrid run. I think she’s only still around because she wants to get paid for filming.
