Recommendations welcome.
My current faves are Telestrations, Bards Dispense Profanity, and Codenames. However, I can always go for the classics like Life, Monopoly, Outburst, Catchphrase, Trivial Pursuit, and even Chutes and Ladders
For me it’s Life and Snakes and Ladders.
I love Life, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, and Sorry. There were few things so satisfying as taking everyone’s money when they landed on your hotel-laden Park Place spot or, for Sorry, sending someone who was almost home back to the start. I’m pretty sure I made up a song to go with that action.
I love Telestrations! We often pair it with Cards Against Humanity cards when we want to spice it up!
I just looked up Telestrations. How’s it different from Pictionary?
It’s basically pictionary, but in the format of the telephone game. Each person has their own drawing pad and picks a card with a word or phrase on it. They attempt to draw that and then pass it to the next person. That person has to guess what the word/phrase was the person tried to draw, they write it down on the next page, then pass the pad to the next person. That person has to draw what the previous person wrote and then pass it. This continues until you receive back your original pad and then everyone compares the final drawing to the original card. We usually forget about keeping score because we’re too busy laughing at the interpretations.
I recently read that Scrabble is going to be dumbed down for Gen Zers. Holy sacrilege.
