Discuss Tournament Of Champions.
I have been relentlessly disappointed with the results this season. It’s getting to the point where I just FF to the judging to get to the part where they eliminate the person I like.
Because that’s all that happens
I understand, I’m kind of that way, too. However, I did like tonight better. But it’s always hard when I want both competitors to move on - and that happens often.
I think last night was better because Waxman showed up and his presence made Lorena settle down. So the judging made more sense.
As much as I got annoyed by the earlier episodes, I don’t hate the final four…
Britt reminds me of Kevin Gillespie in the Las Vegas season of Top Chef. She’s just doing her own thing with stuff like making ravioli and beating other chefs trying to be more Michelin Star with their choices because clearly her food tastes great.
And for whatever my opinion is worth, the other three finalists are just really good at these kind of games. So it’s kind of set up to have a deserving winner at this point.
I’m good with the final 4, too. Although I was hoping for Amanda and Kevin Lee to move on, Antonia and Britt are quite deserving.
I’ve given up on rooting for whomever Britt is facing. That angle has been nothing but disappointing.
Antonia is on fire. It’s kind of fun to see her when she gets like this.
Anyone else looking forward to the finale tonight?
Yep! I’m letting a good half hour start without me so I can FF through commercials and Guy-fanfare.
That was incredible! It almost made me cry (for both reasons). So happy for Maneet! And what great additions to the judges for the finale - Michael White, Michael Mina and Eric Ripert!
I love this show so much, I sometimes wish it were longer or on more often, but I also know that would ruin a big part of what makes it special. I would hate for it to become overkill. I look forward to seeing how they keep ramping it up with the judges season over season.
I just finished binge watching S5. I’m happy for the winner and sad for the 2nd place.
I didn’t think Eric Ripert could be anymore charming, and then he went and admitted he’d never had a sloppy joe before and he liked it.
I’ve noticed that in the 5 Seasons, we’ve had very few A grades for a challenge. The rest have been Bs and Cs. That bugs me. I expected these chefs to be consistent As & Bs. No Cs except maybe a rare newcomer.
It does deliver what I want most though, great chefs doing what they do best.
I watched through all of the qualifier rounds for ToC 6, and I thought they were fun. It was certainly interesting to see the judges for those battles. Heh.
First actual episode was a whole bunch of randomizer mayhem in my opinion. Pretty much across the board the T0C inexperienced chefs scored lower than the veterans on the randomizer.
Alex and Maneet were particularly ornery about “is this a creamy dish?” kind of criticisms.
But then in a later battle when the style was smashed, they weren’t “but is this a smashed dish?” and instead commented on the smashed element and whether or not that was good.
At least Wolfgang Puck stayed focused, even if he was all schnitzeled out by the third battle.
I was happy to see Wolfgang Puck, and so early on. Usually judges of that caliber are reserved for later. Makes me wonder who the judges for the final battle will be.
Second episode they swapped out Puck for Waxman which works for me. Both of them give me a “I love great cooking” vibe.
Charlie Palmer?! They got Charlie Palmer as a round 1 judge. Wow.
A couple of upsets tonight as well. This is becoming a very interesting season.
So many upsets tonight! And dang, I’d love to eat both Jet’s and Joe’s food. Drooling here.
