S02.E08 - The Queen Who Ever Was

As Aemond becomes more volatile, Larys plots an escape, and Alicent grows more concerned about Helaena’s safety. Flush with new power, Rhaenyra looks to press her advantage.

All that buildup to…… nothing.

I know they have to pace themselves as the show is set for two more seasons, but OMG, I felt like so much of this season was waiting for something to happen with about 5 episodes too many of Daemon and his visions.

I also didn’t appreciate having salt rubbed into my wounds with the reveal of Dany and her dragons in Daemon’s visions. And really, TPTB, you couldn’t spare some coin to get Emilia back for a cameo? Although she may be salty, too.

And knowing we won’t get S3 until 2026 is yikes.

The season did suffer from pacing problems but I actually enjoyed the final episode a LOT! The character development, all of the pieces lining up on the board.

I can’t see Corlys NOT providing for his non martial children. That really seems out of character. If he had learned their mother had died he would’ve sent them to be fostered somewhere and taught the ship trade. I don’t see him being a Ned Stark type at all, but I can’t see him letting his own kids go hungry.

Ulf is just so crass, it’s not because he’s team small folk he’s just crass! I don’t think knighthood is enough for what they have done IMO.

My fav part was Haelena putting Aemond in his place. Doesn’t matter if he kills her or not, she has the gift of prophecy and SHE KNOWS what’s going to happen! Hasn’t she always called it?
