I chased the eclipse on Monday with my children. We fought traffic (a 3 1/2 hour trip was closer to 5 hours) and settled in at an historic site where people were gathering that was going to have about 2:45 of totality.

IT WAS WORTH IT. The difference from when it goes 99% to 100% can not be accurately described. So freaking cool.

I went to my mom’s small town in IL and we had 4 minutes and 3 seconds of totality. The weather was perfect. Coming home was a bitch through certain areas though. Added about an hour and 1/2 to the trip.

But yes, seeing totality is certainly worth it. I’ve been able to see this one and the one in 2017 in Nashville and I feel very lucky for that.

Here in NC we had 78% with perfect blue skies. It got dim, a noticable chill, then a brilliance of color for the trees and fields that is beyond any experience I have ever had. I just got into being in the moment and it was a wonderful event.
I was alone when it happened so I was truly able to just be at one with the earth, moon, and the sun. I didn’t have glasses and I am glad because I would have missed out on what was happening around me.

Yeah, the temp dropped at least 10 degrees and the wind picked up. Before it had been close to 80 degrees. It felt so good and it was so pretty looking at that totally covered sun with just the glow around it. I also got to experience with my mama so that made it even better. The one in 2017 happened after my dad passed so while I was totally awed by it, I was also sad because he wasn’t here to see it.

Clouds were moving in at one point and then it got clear. I almost gave up and around 12:20 AM I noticed some white wisps in the sky and thought it might just be more cloud cover, but then I saw the dancing motion and realized what I was seeing. My camera managed to pick up more green than was visible to the naked eye. It was amazing.

@jewel21 Similar to you, the clouds in my area parted - my friend who was 15 minutes to the east, and family 30 min to the east, couldn’t see it due to the clouds. I got super lucky.
I wish it looked as amazing IRL as it did in photos, but still quite an experience. I would have loved to stay up until 2 am when they peaked, but I had to be up early this morning. These pictures were from 10:40-11 pm.

I love that you have purple showing up in yours. Too much cloud coverage tonight I can’t see a thing and I am sad but at least yesterday happened.

Here are some more pics from last night.

Not sure if this is the right place to post.
Yankee Candle is getting rid of their fragrance spheres.
I loved those things because they were not overpowering and made the rooms smell fresh.
Any suggestions for a replacement product?
