I have no desire to look at the actual eclipse. I don’t trust those glasses at all. But I am looking forward to the event itself, the darkness in the afternoon, the ethereal atmosphere. That should be very cool whether or not it’s cloudy.

OMGosh, a new TV station just popped up on my DirecTv, I’m giving it the side eye because it seems like “Dr.” Phil either owns it, or is heavily invested in it.
But of course I clicked on it (cuz duh, more TV) and they’re talking about internet love scammers.
It sucked me right in, because everything they’re saying fits in with something my (very gullible) sister is going through right now.
The only bright spot is that my sister is poor as a church mouse and he won’t (can’t) get a penny from her.

I watched a series on YouTube (which originally aired on British TV) about love scams “Holiday Love Rats Exposed”, basically romance scams for immigration leaving unsuspecting people broke and broken hearted with destroyed credit.

I have a colander with round holes that I plan to take out on my balcony along with a stiff white board (might have to tape white paper to some cardboard).
I will hold (or figure out how to prop up) the colander over the white surface.
As the moon passes between us and the sun, the round white spots of light coming through the colander should become crescent-shaped.

I agree! I’m going to experience it quietly and think about how our ancestors would have experienced an eclipse. There was probably fear. We are fortunate to live in a more enlightened age. Well, most people are enlightened enough to know it’s perfectly natural and not a sign of end times!

I got this pic in the fall from the partial eclipse, just shadows on my driveway coming through a big tree. My work actually gave us glasses, which was nice - bec of course they want us to not take the day off.

I was looking to see a Married at First Sight forum and I didn’t see one, Is anyone else watching that show?
I am off early tomorrow for the eclipse but not sure if our weather will cooperate.

Yes! I had a picture like that too from 2017, which was in August in Lake Forest IL.
But we’ve had a cold spring here in Rochester NY, so there aren’t really any leaves yet.
And none on my balcony.
So it will be me and my colander, LOL.

Quick questions: This site is easy yet hard-ish. What does bookmark do? Is there a way to organize the threads/forums that I want to visit? If it could be explained in a linear way that will help, do this, do this, do this then presto you have what you want kind of way.

eta If a mod or staff is able to “look” at my account to see what I have done/where I have been so far in order to help me that would be nice. I think I have bookmarked one thing but I don’t know where to look for it to see if I have done it correctly. I also don’t know what the different things mean: watching/tracking/etc for notifications.
If I need to do this stuff in a dm/pm, please let me know that also.

Bookmarks basically, I’ve found, are the way to put all shows you like together. If you click your avatar icon in the upper right corner, when the menu options pop up, off to the side, you should see a bookmark icon.

Click it, and you’ll see the list of shows you have bookmarked.

Thank you! Yes I see the one bookmark I did there. I guess the only other question I need answered is what do the notifications mean? tracking/watching/etc

It’s kind of like before. If you want to keep track of posts and such, you’d “follow”. Here, you “watch”. I hope that helps, a bit.
