S02.E02 - Rhaenyra the Cruel

As Otto schemes to turn the public against her, Rhaenyra questions Daemon’s loyalty. Meanwhile, Ser Criston Cole concocts a misguided plan for revenge.

“I declare war! I declare war!” while smashing things. Probably supposed to be a serious scene, but I laughed. Reminded me of a toddler throwing toys declaring he doesn’t need a nap.

“You’re already seen as weak, Aegon.” Dang, Otto. You suck, but mic drop. But wanting the mom and grandma to publicly grieve as a strategy? Yikes. Man is cold.

Daemon’s look when Rhaenyra’s talking to her council about how she would never authorize the murder….

Wow, Daemon and Rhaenyra’s fight was something. Especially when he went after her dad as weak.

Cristin Cole is such a hypocrite. I get we’re supposed to think it is guilt, but no. He just sucks. “Disgrace upon our ranks?” From the guy who was in bed with the Queen as the toddler was killed?

The dog looking at the rat catcher was sad. Apparently I have no sympathy for Alicent and Aegon, but a dog gets me.

Otto so often gets a “why am I saddled with these idiots” look and all I can think is he deserves it. And then loses his Hand position on top of it all. Love that journey for him.

“It’s time the Bitch Queen pays a price.” Cristin might be my least favorite.

Otto is nothing if not an opportunist and he wasn’t wrong about the death of Jaehearys bringing the small folk to Team Green’s side. Until the hangings of every rat catcher that is. But Otto wasn’t wrong that Aegon was unfit to rule and it’s probably the actor, because Otto is one of the worst, but his response when Aegon whines Viserys made him king of “Is that what you think?” made me smirk a little.

I had a moment of feeling for Aegon over the loss of his son but his ignoring a grieving, distraught Helaena had me back to “fuck him again.” Clearly Alicent felt the same way who ignored him breaking down later so she could go on sinning with Crispy Creme, who is the worst.

Speaking of Helaena, Phia Saban continues to do so much without saying a word.

Not sure what to make of Aemond and the prostitute except he clearly has mommy issues. I was surprised that he expressed a bit of remorse about Luke’s death.

@Elle_Woods, I, too, care far more for the dragons, direwolves, and dogs than I do for the humans of this realm.

Daemon continues to be an ass. Rhaenyra was right to call him out as this wounded her cause and I think she was genuinely horrified at the death of her nephew and saddened for her sister. The loss of Luke still so raw. That small scene of her with her young boys and handing Aegon (III) a dragon toy.

I loved seeing Baela and Jace’s small scene and the acknowledgment of Harwin.

We have a Seasmoke sighting and a Daeron mention.

Are the Hulls Corlys’ sons? Both are fine as hell, on a shallow note. I liked seeing Corlys and Rhaenys’ pillow talk. They have such great chemistry.

It seems Mysaria saved Rhaenyra’s life as she was instantly on the alarm after seeing “Erryk” arrive at Dragonstone. Dare I say TwinBowl was far more compelling and heartbreaking than CleganeBowl?

I know some thought it was another slow episode but I enjoyed all the twists and turns.

I thought it was the opposite of slow. About 2/3 of the way in, I was like “there is still more?”

Isn’t Adam of Hull - a dragonseed? - if so then he/they must have some Targ lineage but the show does seem to be hinting at them being Corlys’ bastard born sons?

Oh it was. I was so sad for the twins who I could tell loved each other.

That’s what I gathered.

He does just suck!

For once it wasn’t his fault (he wasn’t on duty at the time) but rather than accept the tragedy he tried to make himself feel better by sending Arryk to murder his TWIN. (He must’ve known that was a likelihood). This was not Arryk’s fault, but he can’t bare to be real with himself asshole.

Although I kept thinking to myself as soon as Erryk went Team Black, they should’ve had him cut his hair and shave his beard because his INDENTICAL TWIN showing up was a strong likelihood, and even among those that knew them well, under that armor and helmet who could tell them a part?
