I rewatched on my flights between Boston/Paris & Paris/Detroit last month.
Amazing the second time around. Less sex than the original GOT (I was a little worried watching it in such tight quarters!). Looking forward to next season #TeamBlack.
I think Daemon’s daughters will be interesting adult characters.

I need to rewatch S1 before S2 hits. I love how so many of the women are powerful characters, charting their own paths. Even as much as I loathe Alicent, she has game.

Although I disagree with a lot of what Alicent has done, I do understand why she feels the way she feels. I think there are a lot of women who’ve lived in Alicent’s position- done their duty to the best of their ability and it’s not recognized.
If her sons hadn’t be so awful her life would’ve been a lot better.

I also understand why she feels how she does - she still sucks though. Not as much as her father, or some others, granted, but yeah we’re into varying levels of suckage when it comes to the Greens.

And possibly UO but I find Harwin/Rhaneyra much hotter than Daemon/ Rhaneyra. Obviously, Daemon wins as Harwin is dead.

Yes! I noticed during the original watch how he as staring at her, and then when I rewatched on my flights, I thought it was a missed opportunity! I would’ve liked to explore their relationship a bit more- did she actually love him or was it just for fun? How did he feel about being her paramour? When did she decide to quit taking her moon tea and have a child, maybe just crossing her appendages it looked more Targaryen than Strong.
I like Rhaenrya, but she really did herself and her boys a disservice by having THREE children with Harwin, one child may have been over looked or chalked to her Mom’s Arryn ancestry, but THREE? She and Laenore really couldn’t make it work (conceiving a child), hell, an affair with another guy who at least looked like Laenore would’ve been better for her long term.

I do think Harwin was sexy, and was obviously INTO her which of course is a turn on. Rhaenyra is gorgeous and a princess, of course many men would want her, but I got the impression that Harwin liked her for HERSELF.

I feel the same way and Harwin’s “YEAH!” face when he saw Rhaenyera walk into the castle courtyard, covered in blood, told me he’s into her for her.
I like to think she loved him and not just for his assuredly mad bedroom skillz.

I’m doing a Season 1 rewatch right now to prepare for Season 2. I had forgotten a lot of details even from Episode 1. I didn’t know almost anything going in, so I was not expecting the time jumps that would come later. I was sure Daemon was the bad guy for like 50% of season 1, so rewatching it and knowing he isn’t is a change.
Additionally, there were times I thought they were hinting at an Alicent/Rhaenyra romance which obviously is not where they were going.

I’m hoping to do a rewatch this weekend.
Daemon did not come off well for several episodes but in retrospect, I’m guessing it’s to distinguish him from Viserys. He’s definitely a gray character for sure. But that’s what Rhaenyra finds appealing.
I, too, thought they were toying at an Alicent/Rhaenyra pairing and that’s part of why Rhae was so upset when she learned her father was marrying her best friend. The obvious reason was most of it but there was this undercurrent of…something. I doubt they’ll revisit it in S2.

They intentionally wanted viewers to see Daemon as a villain initially because he isn’t the hero of the story, he’s one of the anti-heroes. So they pulled the old bait & switch. Imo there aren’t any heroes in this story as everyone has done something shitty - it’s only the degree of shitty that varies. Overall for me, Team Green is the shittiest combined but that doesn’t mean that Team Black are angels who can do no wrong, they also do some pretty shitty things, they’re just the less shitty side of a shit coin.
The good news is that there shouldn’t be any further major time jumps in S2. I don’t need to rewatch as HOTD is one of the shows I spend time watching people on Youtube react to lol.
