Top Chef

How are we handling discussion here? As far as spoilers? I noticed some in spoiler tags and while I don’t care this season if I am spoiled, I don’t want to spoil others. This question is for after the episode has aired situations.

And not about LCK, I totally would use spoiler tags for that discussion here.

One big issue I have with team competitions is when one person takes a lot more of the budget, leaving the rest of the team having to make sacrifices. Laura was so selfish. She reminded me of Season 20 Tom at the picnic episode taking a majority of the budget for a dish that wasn’t even good.

I think the budget should be cut into equal portions, and after everyone checks out, if the others want to give unspent money to the other chef, they can.

How bizarre that Tom the decider, refused to choose who to eliminate twice. Charley is a great chef, but should have gone home the first round. And to send Soo and Kaleena back to the TC kitchen was another cop out. I think if Soo wasn’t the 16th contestant, that he would have gone home, but to surprise the other chefs, he was kept.

No need for spoiler tags. Once the episode airs, you’re on your own.

They typically don’t have such simple “game play” kind of discussions, which does make me a little crazy. I think it just takes one person to float out the idea before they head off to the store, and somehow either nobody thinks of it, or nobody has the courage to say it.

This article gives a lot of insight into the architect episode. It kind of annoys me that there is so much editing, seemingly more than usual?, going on to portray something that from what these two shared, was not the case.

I am also trying to figure out LCK shenanigans. I am 100% against this whole part, since the beginning, but I also hate not knowing what is going on so I spoil myself with who gets through.

Oh my gosh this place is fantastic!
^^^^link to Harvey House

After looking at the menu my spur of the moment exactly only one thing in it bucket list is to travel to Wisconsin and spend however many days it takes to try everything on this menu. And I have never felt that way about any of the places showcased on the show.

Had to edit a few times for linking the restaurant page above

Still whistling…

Fancy martini or future profile pic for the martini inclined. Ha, not me. But they had soooo many dreamy cocktails that I would also spend that bucket list downing them all.

Didn’t Rasika do a similar dish adding crunchy popcorn?

I remember that episode. He was so sure he had the best meal ever and it bombed.

@CrazyinAlabama I am replying to your post but I do not have the hang of quote posting yet.

Randomly, I love what we have seen of the towns and countrysides of Wisc. so far. I do find myself forgetting they are in that state when they show the large town view. I keep thinking it is Chicago :upside_down_face:

I was disappointed when they showed snippets of Door County they didn’t show any of Lake Michigan. Door Country is literally a peninsula into that lake.

I loved the dairy challenge. However, I hated the Elimination round. I still don’t understand Chaos cuisine. I was shocked when some of the cheftestants said they didn’t understand it either. I couldn’t believe the bottom two chefs. It should be interesting to see how Last Chance Kitchen goes.

The one I don’t like at all is Laura. Competitive is one thing, but she just seems mean.

I am in a too much to do all of a sudden time crunch but wanted to note:
Is Kaleena trying to make “bitches” the new awful catch phrase like odd hat guy tried with “sexy”?

Just stop Kaleena. It has you coming off as childish, as in I learned a new “let’s own” a bad word. That phase has come and gone for the word bitch.

I only hate challenges that make them do things like chip ingredients out of ice or use canned hot dogs, so I didn’t mind this one at all.

Confusing challenge? Priority #1 is make something that tastes good. Come up the BS story about chaos second.

Pretty much any time you serve something with the flavor of a plain rice cake, you’re in trouble

I haven’t spoilered this because it has already happened on the actual TC show. I have decided to go with the flow and treat this season as a first season and let them work out the kinks of changing it up. I have never been a fan of LCK but this year it is very wonky with possible shenanigans going on, etc. and I am confused by it more this year. I hope hat guy gets to explain his side. I don’t want it to be that he did something or that he was maneuvered by the show. Not going to dwell on it though, him or Soo. It is taking away my viewing pleasure trying to figure it out. What I do want clarity on is the numbers in general. My head is wonky with
15 contestants
One elimination
Soo is introduced Hat guy gone
More eliminations
Two come back to top chef
Double elimination possible
One elimination
Are two eliminations on one episode still on table
If not, huh?
If two are still on table will there be a three chef LCK episode

I don’t watch LCK because the format doesn’t interest me. I do keep up with who wins just to know. This year I don’t understand any of it and it is just irritating.

I did enjoy the chaos episode. Will check back with a comment after my brain recovers from getting LCK post out of my system.

I have been neither a fan of, or against, LCK. I used to read the progress in the thread at the other site, but otherwise. Eh. It does seem they are adding more and more twists and turns to it, though. It is getting to be a lot. As the initial concept of giving a chance for a prematurely ejected contestant to prove their worth and come back, it was fine. Now it seems to be all over the place.

I wonder if it was just a problem with Soo being there for the start of filming, as they presented him from the start in LCK as “the 16th contestant.” Or maybe the actual 16th contestant bailed out (or they uncovered something bad about them) at the last minute, and starting Soo on the LCK side was the best way to fix it.

If it was always part of the plan to start one person on that side, which seems very unfair to that one person, I hope they don’t do it again.

He’s a pretty darn good chef from what I’ve seen so far. He did great in the LCK challenges.

When Kristen presented the Quick Fire challenge with Brian Voltaggio in the latest episode, I felt like it was her show now. Don’t know what it was, but she just looked and sounded as fully comfortable and in control.
