My reading taste is uber eclectic, currently I’m reading:
‘A Medieval Family: The Pastons of Fifteenth Century England’ by Frances and Joseph Gies.
I’m also listening to an audiobook:
‘Sherlock Holmes: The Voice of Treason’ by Cavan Scott & George Mann
According to Goodreads, I currently have 7 books going (I’m a book polygamist), but my two main reads are:
My Side of the River by Elizabeth Camarillo Gutierrez (memoir about a teenager whose parents are undocumented and then not allowed back into the US and she has to basically raise herself in Tucson)
The Likeness by Tana French (book 2 of the Dublin Murder Squad series)
I’m listening to an audio book “I’m Glad My Mom Died” and it’s a new experience for me. I’ve only ever listened to some Doctor Who and Torchwood radio plays. Spotify has some good stuff I’ve been meaning to read so I’ll get used to this audio thing. I’m also reading several books at one time which is the norm for me. One of which is Trailer Park Trickster the second book in the Adam Binder series.
I’ve heard good things about I’m Glad My Mom Died, although it hasn’t spoken to me (it might hit a bit too close to home). There are people who swear by audiobooks. I usually use them to supplement my reading, but most of it is still in print or on my e-reader.
Currently reading “The Wrong Side of Goodbye” by Michael Connelly. Part of the Harry Bosch series of books.
Looking forward to the latest Renée Ballard/Harry Bosch book coming in November, “The Waiting”, which I have already pre-ordered.
If that is even a quarter as good as “Desert Star” was, it’ll make for some awesome reading…
I’m about 1/3 of the way through Kitchens of the Great Midwest by J. Ryan Stradal. It’s my book club book for this month. It’s pretty engaging and not at all what I expected from the title!
I really enjoyed this book! Of course, it helps to be a fan of short story collections as it is more of a collection of interconnected short stories. Of Stradal’s books, it probably gets the silver medal from me (below The Lager Queen of Minnesota and above Saturday Night at the Lakeside Supper Club).
Currently reading Wrong Time, Wrong Place about a woman who keeps going back in time to stop her son from murdering someone. Time travel tends to make my brain hurt but it is a book club pick, so…
I love time travel. I’ll have to check that one out!
A lot, but I need to finish The Dark is Rising, and get it back to the library.
Finished Kitchens of the GreatMidwest and it was very good! We had our book club discussion yesterday and we talked more about food than we ever have before. Most members loved the book!
Going back down memory lane and re-reading my favorite author from the very beginning.
Finished “Carrie” then “Salem’s Lot” over the weekend & just checked out the audiobook of “The Shining” to listen to on my lunch breaks. I haven’t read either since they were new, back in early 70’s. He’s still amazing.
Any other Stephen King fanatics?
Oooh, that sounds cool. I just put a reserve on it at my library. Only 16 people ahead of me. LOL
I’m on the pre-order list too! Anything by Connelly is on my read list. I love his “Lincoln Lawyer” series too.
Pinging @BugsyB I found one of your people!
I don’t think I would qualify as a fanatic, but I have read and reread and watched and rewatched The Stand. I think re reading all of his books is a great idea. I really admire Stephen King!
I love “The Stand” too. The re-release in 1990 with the additional material is a real eye-opener. I had only read the original before.
The 1994 mini-series with Molly Ringwald & Gary Sinese is a once-a-year watch for me too. I haven’t seen the 2020 remake & not sure I will.
I did watch the remake and it was not good.
Thanks, I heard that from my brother too, but I always like a few opinions!
