Discuss OC here!
Just started to catch up on this season. And holy shit! So much going on in these first 4 episodes.
Just read that while the Mothership and SVU have been renewed, OC hasn’t been - yet. Makes me wonder if this will forever be a mid-season show with shorter seasons than the others.
(Then again, for this show, that may be a good thing.)
Per a Deadline article, it seems L&O: OC may pull a L&O: Criminal Intent and move from NBC proper to Peacock for Season 5. (As you may remember, L&O: CI moved from NBC to NBC-owned USA Network at the start of its 7th season and managed three additional seasons there.)
Right now, it reads like spec/spitballing, but it would explain the lag in its renewal.
Oh well, I don’t really care about this show, so I won’t care if it moves to Peacock, I don’t subscribe to Peacock although I will sign up for a month when they have a couple of NFL games on it late in the year. But this show just seems so limited in what it can do and it’s hard to follow with all of the ongoing stories, plus Stabler’s family drives me nuts. This show just seems like a vehicle to bring back Stabler so they could set up the inevitable Stabler/Benson hookup on SVU. It’s not a terrible show but it’s not that great either, and it’s so limited in its subject matter that it’s gotten ridiculous how many times Stabler has gone undercover. I find myself not really caring if it gets renewed or not, nothing about it I can connect with really (though I did like seeing Don Cragen appear in 2 cameos this season). If OC does move to Peacock, that would make it harder to crossover with SVU which is interesting since like I said, the whole purpose of the show seems to be to set up the Benson/Stabler romance on SVU
Per a report, TVLine is saying that OC is nearing a deal to making a move to Peacock as previously rumored.
Oh well, I don’t watch every episode of this show anyway and the show seems to have such limited subject matter and ideas that it’s not that good - it’s ridiculous how many times they’ve had Stabler go undercover. However I wonder with the move to Peacock if they’ll have any crossover with SVU, because it seems like the main purpose of this show was to bring Stabler back to set up his romance with Benson.
Who knows how crossovers will be handled with SVU now. But frankly, I don’t care about the Benson/Stabler mess, so…
Shrug.
Same, I don’t care at all about St Olivia or Stabler or their endless will they/won’t they romance plot. SVU is almost unwatchable now due to St O, and I’ve never gotten into OC. The Mothership is the only L&O show I care about now, it’s still very enjoyable, probably because it’s about the cases, not personal melodrama.
It’s official: L&O: OC is renewed for Season 5 - but not on NBC. It will air exclusively on Peacock.
Criminal Intent alumna Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (who played Capt. Zoe Callas on CI in S9) is joining OC as a new character, Isabella Spezzano, with ties to Elliot Stabler’s past.
