Nice to see forums for each of the L&O shows.
Iāve been enjoying the 4 episode nightly CI marathons on Charge, gives me something to watch if thereās nothing else on each night. They are on season 5 right now.
Itās too bad WE and Sundance donāt really show CI anymore
Sundance showed it today, but 3-hour blocks on Fridays is all. (From 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET, just FYI!) Sundance is entering S6 next Friday.
It also airs every Monday on BBC America, from noon to 5:00 p.m. ET!
Yes I usually catch some of the BBC America marathons each Monday.
The Charge marathons are nice to have each night. Last night they showed my favorite episode, the 2 part āIn The Wee Small Hoursā episode - an almost perfect 2 part episode.
Yep! I saw. And I was wondering if you were watching, as I know they are favorites of yours! With 4 per night [and the occasional weekend marathons], the seasons tend to cycle through quickly, but all good.
Tonightās Charge marathon starts with Saving Face, which is a strong episode, followed by Scared Crazy, Dollhouse and Slither. Slither is ruined by bringing Nicole into the plot, but the opening is very creepy and effective and the concept was interesting, but then they just had to make Nicole a part of the episode.
Nicole was good to start with (even I, a Nicole hater, can admit that!). And she was indeed the Moriarty to G/Eās Sherlock and Watson.
The trouble is, the show had started using the character as a crutch, and in doing so, she became a cartoon, getting out of situations time and again, making for diminished returns every time she appeared thereafter.
āGreat Barrierā really should have been the end for her. Curse NBC for the poll. Her death was obviously filmed as the alternate ending is bonus material on the S4 DVD.
100% agreed about Nicole, had her storyline ended at the end of Great Barrier, it wouldāve be a fine storyline. But having her escape at the end of Great Barrier was just a step too far, then they had her escape yet again at the end of Grow, then again at the end of Slither, and it just became comical. The idea to have a recurring nemesis for Goren/Eames was good, but the storyline just went on way too long
The Nicole saga reminded me of daytime soap characters returning from the dead. LOL! (And I do watch soaps!)
But for a series like this, itās ridiculous. At least soaps are supposed to stretch reality.
CI basically became a soap opera in season 6 with the ridiculous Goren melodrama, Iāve said before how Iām not a fan of season 6 and what they did to Goren starting then, but yeah the Nicole storyline got absurd after Great Barrier. I donāt mind some far fetched plots but Nicole continuing to escape was just downright annoying and poor writing.
Oh, God. āVacancyā is airing on Charge! now with Emily Berglās shrieky Alice.
Here is a video Iāve never seen before. Courtney B. Vance looks back on his time on Law & Order: Criminal Intent:
For anyone that follows social media, it appears VDO is back on TwitX.
I criticize season 6 of CI a lot, itās my least favorite along with season 9, I hated the change in direction and style of the show and how they bogged Goren down with baggage, but the 3 episode run of Worldās Fair, Privilege and Albatross is very strong - those are 3 of the 4 episodes airing on Charge tonight - those have the classic CI feel of being strong cases with memorable characters and no soapy baggage.
Whatās weird is, sometimes Charge! shows āWorldās Fairā and sometimes it doesnāt. I recall one cycle when it was supposed to be shown, but the channel repeated the episode that had just ended before going to the episode after as the final episode.
Makes me wonder why since it has been shown sinceā¦
That is weird, I do recall them skipping it once, but yeah itās airing now on Charge. Probably my favorite season 6 episode - Logan was really good, I liked seeing some of the fiery passion from him when he slammed the table. No one was sympathetic really other than the 2 victims, so it was kind of a downer episode, but itās a good case
Looks like there will be an all day Saturday marathon of CI, starting in the middle of season 9 and going all the way through season 10.
Speaking of season 9 I saw part of the Loyalty 2 parter last night, and I still have no idea what to make of that plot, Iām not sure who did what for what reason - it was a convoluted mess that made no sense, and I have no idea who thought that would be a good exit for Goren/Eames - it was a really weak one. Ross biting the dust didnāt bother me at all, he was an asshat from start to finish, but Iām still not really sure of what the motive behind the guy ordering Ross killed was. Anyway Iām just glad Goren/Eames came back for season 10 and got a satisfying send off with quality episodes.
For some reason, with the exception of āthemedā episodes, i.e. Nicole Wallace or some other āthemeā, i.e. famous actor guest stars, the marathons on Saturday always seem to coincide between Seasons 8 through 10.
It does make me wonder if S9 is consistently lower in the ratings, so they want to speed through as quickly as possible or somethingā¦
āThe Last Street in Manhattanā is just ending on Charge!. Still my favorite from S10. Alexandra Silber as Vanessa Colway did a great job.
