Episode 6, “Disposable People”, is up.
Just watched episode 5 - good case albeit predictable - I loved seeing the courtroom though - it was great that they finally gave Theo a heavy role and went into Canadian court, I hope they do it again - one of American CI’s biggest missed opportunities was how little Carver was used and how rarely they did any court stuff, so I’m glad they went into court here. There were definite parallels to the Good Doctor, not with the crime but with the detective getting the defendant on the stand so he could be cross examined.
Also, as I may have said before, the defense lawyer appeared before, in the S1 episode, “The Real Eve”, now named Deb Sutton, played by Catherine Disher (best known to American audiences for her role as Dr. Natalie Lambert in the '90s vampire series, Forever Knight). Nice to have a recurring lawyer character pop up in this version.
Just watched episode 6, so I’m all caught up now. Episode 6 was pretty good albeit predictable, I liked the final confrontation where Graff/Bateman got the mom and son to turn on each other, that was a classic dysfunctional family this franchise loves.
Episode 7, “The Man In The Stadium”, is up. There is a week-long break next week, then the last three episodes of S2 air uninterrupted for the first three weeks of May.
Canadians love their hockey. Apparently, CityTV, the channel that LOTCI airs on, was doing some cross promotion for The Stanley Cup playoffs by having Graff and Bateman interview…The Stanley Cup. Hee. If you want to see that commercial, here is the link: Commercial - LOTCI - Graff and Bateman Interview The Stanley Cup.mp4 - Google Drive
Just watched episode 7, pretty good episode. I did call the shot as to who the perp would be early on, he revealed himself to be a nasty piece of work at the end. As a baseball fan I liked seeing Rogers Centre be the crime scene, nice views of the stadium.
Episode 8, “Canadian Dream”, is up. I think this may be a sympathetic killer, not to mention we discover more about Graff in passing - and, like Eames, Bateman does most of the driving.
Episode 9, “Bitter Pill”, is up. And includes a character named…Declan! Good for a CI show to carry on that “tradition”. LOL!
Next week is the season finale.
LOTCI officially has a US home! The CW will air S1 this fall! And will also air S2. So, if anyone was still waiting to see it, you’re in luck!
The S2 season finale is up. Yes, I know it will now air in the US, but it will be some time. So, watch it or wait!
Graff really seemed to be Goren-esque tonight - and we meet a family member. Not to mention…Graff has a decent singing voice!
Just watched episode 8, Canadian Dream, another strong episode. Definitely one of the more sympathetic killers on the show, and I liked how the twists the case took and the deductions at the crime scene and how they uncovered the intended victim’s identity. Good ending scene as well.
Yeah, I actually felt sorry for the murderer here. He was coming from a place of raw pain.
Saw elsewhere that Canada had an awards show, the Canadian Screen Awards, air tonight in Canada. And Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent won for Best Drama Series.
Congrats to the cast and crew! Well deserved, especially after a strong S2.
Just got around to watching episode 9, Bitter Pill, another strong episode with a good investigation. I liked the twist that Bruce wasn’t involved in the murders and his greedy husband did it without his knowledge. Strong case
Yeah, I found S2 to be very strong. Will be great to see these again once they hit the CW this fall.
An air date has been set for the US debut of TCI: It will premiere on September 24th at 8:00 p.m. on the CW. It will also be available on the CW app the next day.
‘Law & Order Toronto Criminal Intent’ CW Premiere Date September 2025
Unfortunately, it will air opposite another Dick Wolf show, Chicago Med, but hopefully, those that want to try it will manage to do so.
Glad the show will be on American tv - I look forward to watching it again (still haven’t watched the S2 finale yet but I’ve seen the other 19 episodes) It’s a really good show and it’s better written than the Mothership and SVU because there’s not nearly as much melodrama or personal baggage on it, and I hope it stays that way. Toronto CI is very similar to classic seasons 1-5 American CI in many ways - strong detective work and complex cases. Very good show.
And I don’t care at all about Dick Wolf’s Chicago soap operas. I’m glad this is on a different night than L&O and SVU though.
Just watched the S2 finale, Tango Romeo, pretty good episode, lots of twists. Graff starting to loudly sing to get attention at the spy headquarters was hilarious. Graff’s half brother was slimy - I guess that’s another similarity he has with Bobby Goren, a shady brother, albeit shady in a different way. Good episode with a sympathetic killer and a terrible victim, albeit we didn’t see much of the victim alive. I did wonder if the victim’s wife knew her husband was a rapist and if she was a spy as well, that was unclear? And how exactly did the killer get access to the poison to kill her rapist? So there were a couple of questions I had with the plot, which usually doesn’t happen here, but it was a good episode.
I’m glad the show is coming to American tv, seasons 1 and 2 were great, and I’m glad there’s a season 3 coming. I just really hope they stick to the cases and don’t have much personal melodrama the way American CI did in season 6. I hope they don’t give Graff the baggage they gave Goren, they have a similar background, hopefully this show sticks to the case centric format, as I’ve said before American CI went downhill quickly when they gave Goren so much baggage.
Yeah, Graff singing “Bear Trap, Bear Tap…” while trying to get past the front desk - and, no doubt, his brother’s attention! - was hilarious. And effective. I felt so sorry for Alice.
As for the Novochok, I believe the Russian spy guy that Graff and Bateman interviewed told them he gave it to CSIS as a show of “good faith” (as I believe they were working together, hence him having the adjoining room). So Alice would have had immediate access to it once her scumbag colleague went to shower, and since the ring was likely still off (since he probably planned another assault), Alice took her chance.
I know these are fictional people, but with that said, I would hope the court would have been lenient towards Alice considering the circumstances.
