New episode this Wednesday!

S06.E07: Smash And Grab And Happy Death Day

The hardware store experiences a smash-and-grab, and Dan and Jackie nab one of the culprits. Meanwhile, Beverly Rose learns a lesson in remembering loved ones who have passed while keeping their memories alive.

Airdate: 04/10/2024

I loved Becky’s Mark on the show, and Glenn Quinn in general, so any mention of him always makes me happy. I was glad to see Becky telling Beverly Rose about him.

The rest of the episode was fine.

Tonight’s episode was pretty good. It’s hard to imagine Dan being 70 because that means I’ve also aged accordingly, lol.

I liked Dan’s special project of teaching the neighbourhood woman home maintenance. It’s a nice side gig for him, but like Louise said, he needs to pace himself.

Darlene is an idiot. First off, I don’t see the kids at Mark’s school wanting to eat vegan food. I mean yes, provide healthier options but it doesn’t have to be vegan. And you just know she’s going to fail and lose her job.

But, all that said, I thought this epiode had some nice funny lines and I enjoyed it.

I would think that by the age of 70 Dan would have had the mortgages paid off by now.
I lol’d at the sciatica scene. Very close to home!

I only watched the Conners on Hulu and I thought the series ended! I am NOT well informed. Anyway, I added it back on, so now I have some catching up to do! :joy:

I enjoy it overall. A lot of people complain about the writing and the characters and even wish for it to be cancelled. I enjoy it for what it is. A half hour sitcom with characters I grew up with.

Awesome, it’ll be fun to discuss it in real time.

So Harris having a panic attack after speaking to both Jackie and Becky sounds about right, heh. I’m not sure I buy her ADHD diagnosis but I have had female friends who were only diagnosed as adults so that part did ring true.

Louise bothers me sometimes with her wanting to monopolize Dan’s time, but I do get it because the whole family is very codependent. But staying later 1 day a week should be Dan’s decision to make. I am glad she finally relented.

Darlene continues to make stupid decisions.

This episode was a bit lackluster, although I am glad Ben got the writing job in the end and that Dan was the one to submit the story for him.

Jackie and her neediness concerning Neville is annoying. The man has a job, Jackie. He can’t just hang around with you 24/7 because you decided to retire. He has his own practice and he specializes in large animals so he is kind of indispensable. Geez.

So rather than rebuild the hardware store, Ben wants to blow the insurance money on buying a magazine. I just feel like it’s a stupid idea. This family keeps making bad financial decisions.

At least Dan will get his 10% share and finally pay off that stupid house.

And I’m glad Becky will start creating some boundaries with her patients because what she was doing was not healthy at all.

I agree Jewel. This family (even the extensions) continue to make bad life choices. Not many of us get to be what we wanted to be when we were younger.
I hope i never have to hear how Dan needs a “bit more money” to pay off the place.
Becky’s career choice might not be the correct one for her. She needs to detach herself from her patients and the fact she went through loss and substance abuse might not make her the best candidate as a therapist.
At this point, I just wish that the network would pull the plug.

There is one more season left for a total of six episodes.

Though I like Laurie Metcalf, the character of Jackie is truly insane. Except when she was reacting to Becky’s very bad handling of her “patients”. I was shocked to hear Jackie making sense!

Season 6, Episode 12- Flying, Applying and Rassling Gators
This episode frustrated me.
First, the Conners show how crappy they are by stealing the bank guy’s personal calendar. If you wanted a memento, why didn’t Dan do what they use to do in the 70s and burn the mortgage document.
Dan continues to be a crappy guy by punching the crappy passenger on the plane. Meanwhile he could have moved to the other side of Jackie as the seat was unoccupied.
Do these folks like being martyrs? I don’t get how Darlene was able to go to University of Chicago without scholarships and having to finance the whole thing meanwhile it’s difficult for Mark to do this??? I understand how Darlene doesn’t want him to get into debt but sadly, it would be his only option. Wouldn’t he rather go into debt and be happier at the school he wants to go to instead of being unhappy at SAD UI??
I just can’t with these people.

I’m surprised Dan actually paid off the mortgage rather than turning around and gifting the money to Mark so that Mark could go to the University of Chicago. That would have totally been a bone-headed Connor move.

I’m also surprised the unruly passenger was not only allowed to stay on the plane after the altercation, but he wasn’t moved away from Dan. And of course, Dan had to go and punch him and ruin his chance of getting a free voucher on his next flight.

Mark just needs to suck it up and get a student loan and pay it off like so many other kids do. Also, quitting school so he can make $150,000 is going to take him a lot longer than a year. Was he still drunk when he came up with that math, heh?

He’s lucky the other passengers didn’t restrain him. He’s big and intimating and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was restrained and arrested when the plane landed

Season 6, Episode 13 Less Money, More Problems - Season finale
Well Mark, in true Conner fashion is making life mistakes while trying to get ahead. Just get a freaking student loan. And isn’t there something at U of Chicago where if you are in need, your tuition might be reduced?
Becky having her boyfriend move in, is a better idea than moving out.
No Louise or Ben for the season finale.
