Well , in my shallow defense, I like the actor because I think he is handsome even when mopey, ha! But I do agree with both of you. This whole plot is to showcase Ashley and she isn’t my favorite actress so I only tolerate the plot because of him and Audra.
I am ready for Glissade to be on the cityscape buildings in the opening scenes.
I liked Claire when she wasn’t being portrayed as a babe in the woods wide eyed with the wonder of it all. And fix her hair and makeup. Ditch Jordan. Ditch the I love kids ickiness.
I don’t know who has the mental illness angle writing these stories but I wish they would move on. Connor ocd, Claire and Ashley being like teen girls, just stop doing it.
Yeah, I’m not buying her “gosh gee–everything is so wonderful”. She has {I believe} some real problems I would imagine that have scarred her and she needs therapy.
Summer’s hysterics might be easier to take if there were some uncertainty about whether Claire actually was involved in the kidnapping. The fact that we know Claire is also a victim makes Summer look like an even bigger idiot.
I’m trying to watch the Canadian episode. Dear lord. I"m putting stuff under spoiler bars so I can rant and not ruin the stupidity for my American friends, lol .
So now Ashley has a new alter. A horny Southern Belle. Think Blanche from the Golden Girls, heh. Also, Nikki is screaming into the air in an empty alley, lol.
I am really bummed with where YR is going. The white room with the flipping Ashley’s is just creepy and I don’t read or watch that kind of stuff. Now I see there is a new alt added plus a new dr to treat her.
Then there is Jordan. Along with Connor and so dramatic Chelsea.
I think that even though I am living for Tucker/Trevor, and also Lily taking charge, I am deleting the remaining episodes I have and taking a break from the show.
I am barely watching these days. Usually, I’ll start a show and watch for a few minutes to see if anything piques my interest and you can guess the number of times I hang out for the whole episode.
It’s not even that there are so few root-worthy characters these days besides Tucker, who cannot carry the entire show on his shoulders.
It’s that the show is b-o-r-i-n-g You could miss a week or two and not miss a beat because they keep rehasing every last plot point to the nth degree.
The Ashley alters…this should have been a hit given I remember well the first go-round in the 80s after her abortion and break-up with Victor and after Baby Robert’s death in the early 2000s. But what I’ve seen so far is a misuse of rich history and even ED seems over it.
It’s sad because I’ve been watching the show for decades and some of my earliest memories are Nikki, Victor, and Douglas. But other than some of the same actors/characters, this show is a pale ghost of what it used to be.
I’m behind two episodes (today’s US, and today’s CDN) so I don’t have much to say now. I used to watch this show on and off for as long as I can remember. I think it’s always moved slow. I remember missing months of show at a time as a kid, only to have a day off due to a Ped day, and being able to follow along reasonably well.
Then there was a few years where I just stopped altogether. I started back up again with the Patty storyline and Colleen’s death. But it’s been a few years now that I mostly just listen to the show rather than watch because I’m too busy on my phone coloring or playing games, lol.
All of this is to say that I definitely understand everyone’s frustration. I never liked Ashley so her storyline is boring me. I don’t like Tucker so I am not invested in him. Same with Devon and Lily. Right now the only thing I am interested in is Nikki’s storyline with Jordan but that still isn’t enough to get me to look up from my phone.
So what does everyone think of Victor keeping Jordan in a cage in the basement? Nice of him to have framed pictures and is that also a wine cellar? And how in the world did he get her there? He had to have help! Personally I am so sick of the Newmans acting as police, judge, juror and executioner. I also wonder if the writers expect us to be on their side. I certainly am not.
One of my neighbors had a cage in his basement. He was a DJ and a “photographer”. Turns out he put an ad of Craigs list looking for women to model high end lingerie. The high end lingerie turned out to be cheap crap her bought at a Halloween costume store. He had one young women come over and while he did not " rape" her, he forced her to do some really sick things to him and he recorded it, then locked her in the cage. He let her out and paid her but said he would make the video public if she said anything to anyone. Well, she did report it to the police. There were other victims but they were too scared to testfy. He said he found Jesus, which we have another neighbor who goes around the neighborhood trying to convert people so I wouldnt be surprised if he went along with it. Same weirdo also dj’ed at high schol parties and took upskirt pictures with a camera he had set up on the floor. Anyway… Because he did not “rape” her and because she took money, he was convicted on some charge and served 3 years in jail. Moral of the story: some people really do have cages in their basement.
If memory serves, apparently when Victor first appeared on screen, he was keeping his first wife’s love interest in the basement and was feeding him rats? I assume the dungeon is from that time period, but who knows since I wasn’t alive to watch back then.
I just find it funny that despite his wife being an alcoholic and falling off the wagon, Victor is not at all worried about Nikki coming down to wine cellar to satisfy her urges and accidentally discovering Jordan. Victor is very aware of the fact that Nikki only drinks vodka and has no use for wine. What a very finicky alcoholic, lol.
That’s my problem with Claire. She’s being written as an ingenue after coming on as a schemer. It’s all well and good that she now realizes Jordan is evil and doesn’t want to have anything to do with her. I’m also okay with her wanting to make a new life for herself with her parents and family. But she can do that without suddenly regressing to a 12 year old! Everything about her look at the party was wrong, starting with the barrettes in her hair…
