Law & Order

Also, unless she was trying to frame her husband, why did she wear clothing that was 100% certain to link back to him - expensive puffy coat, telltale sports memorabilia hat? Unless I missed something at the end about her trying to frame him… But I thought the motive was she was trying to protect his reputation, their standing and that future judgeship.

She was trying to protect him and his reputation - my guess is she just wore those clothes because they were convenient, she probably didn’t think anyone would tie it back to her husband.

Interesting episode tonight - I liked seeing more of Dixon and meeting her son. It was a solid case with a compelling premise, jury got the right verdict, while the defendant was sympathetic he didn’t have the legal right to be in the victim’s condo and the victim didn’t do anything to him. If he hadn’t perjured himself and had his daughter lie I wonder if they could’ve worked out a manslaughter plea

Price/Maroun once again get didn’t seem to do their basic research before trial, and once again they lose a motion on shaky grounds. And Maroun is starting to rival Serena in feeling sorry for perps.
It was nice seeing Dixon get focus and I liked her conversation with Riley at the end, Riley has been a great addition to the show. Interesting case but once again I have issues with Price/Maroun.

It’s cool that Dixon got focus and we met her son.

But the now-usual court half of the show continues to drag this revival down. I don’t know if those versed in laws and procedure have long moved on since S20, but something has to be done.

Yeah the cliches of Price/Maroun losing a motion on shaky legal grounds almost every episode is tiresome, and even more tiresome is how they seem to get caught flat footed and don’t do basic research before trial, it was very glaring last night, no excuse for them not to have found the gun. The show seems to lose steam when Price/Maroun come on - the detective stuff is great, I really like Shaw/Riley. It was nice getting some focus on Dixon and I liked seeing her go to Baxter’s office.

This was an interesting episode tonight - it was interesting seeing Baxter take the lead as prosecutor, and I liked that Price and Baxter finally cleared the air between them, some of that stuff needed to be said, Baxter was correct IMO, Price did have suspicions of him being a “carnival barker” and more politician than lawyer, Price was close to McCoy and had an easy relationship with him, and hasn’t adjusted to Baxter. I did like seeing Price act with more passion, he’s usually very low key so that was nice.
Maroun was barely in the episode and I didn’t miss her, she’s beyond dull.
The investigation was pretty quick, but some investigations are like that, everything pointed towards the perp, and he was evil, Baxter was 100% right to not make any deal - he needed to be put away for life.
Everyone seemed a bit cranky, Riley was kind of salty with Price, and Shaw nearly lost it in the interrogation room which wasn’t like him.
I liked how they did something with the predictable plot point of the judge tossing out evidence, they explained the judge’s bias and had Baxter stand up to him.
Pretty good case.

Camryn Manheim (Lt. Kate Dixon) exits Law & Order.

It’s too bad that Dixon is leaving - I like her. I wish it was Maroun or Price that was leaving, the legal side needs more life, the detective stuff is great.

Jerry Orbach’s son, Chris, posted a picture of his parents while on a date (he thinks!) from around 1957 or 1958! It led to a thread of fans of Jerry Orbach remembering their favorite roles or memories of having gotten to meet him…

Must be a Jerry Orbach kind of night. This popped up on my YT recommendations: Jerry Orbach as Billy Flynn in Chicago in 1976, performed for the Labor Day MDA Telethon that year!

Good season finale tonight - Baxter once again took center stage - I’ve come to like him as the new DA and it’s interesting how his relationship with everyone else has grown, Price has clearly come to respect him more now - it was interesting that Price seemed willing to keep his daughter off the stand when Baxter told him about her being ready to testify. The episode’s ending was reminiscent of the season 19 finale when McCoy was up for election and the episode ended with the viewers not knowing how the election would turn out. I’m sure Baxter will prevail since I haven’t heard anything about Goldwyn leaving and I highly doubt they would bring him on and give him such a large role if he wasn’t going to be around for a while.
The detective stuff was really stellar once again - I love Riley and Shaw and their part of the show was strong, seeing them go to the forensics lab and get a lead on the weapon felt like classic L&O. I’ll miss Dixon and I wonder how she’ll be written out, wish she wasn’t leaving, I liked seeing her talk to Baxter and his wife.
Maroun was barely in the episode and I think I liked the legal part better again - she just doesn’t add much.
Biggest flaw in the episode was the witness getting killed - even if he refused protective custody, why wasn’t an eye being kept on him? And some of the judge’s rulings were shaky as usual.
Enjoyable episode overall, I look forward to season 24.

I have 101 L&W eppis on my queue! Love Greene and Brisco, starting to like Sisto and {?forgot his name} but I don’t like the earlier ones. They are not too interesting. primarily because I think I really didn’t care about the actors…

I LOVE that Van Buren take no shit from anyone…

See, I loved the beginning, too. I think the show popped from word go. I know NBC got some flack because the cast of the first three seasons was all male (save for appearances from Dr. Liz Olivet; also why Van Buren and Kincaid came in at S4, replacing Cragen and Robinette!), but the writing and stories were interesting enough to me that it didn’t matter.

I love all seasons of L&O

I’ve been watching season 2 today on WE, these early episodes are really good for the most part IMO, and I like the cast overall - some people say that they don’t care for L&O until Briscoe and/or McCoy came on, I think it was a strong show from the start. I really like Ben Stone, he’s very different from Jack but a good character in his own right.

Jay O. Sanders - who has been all over the franchise including the final CI captain, not to mention the Mothership episode, “Tabula Rasa” - joined Bill Murray and Sanders’ former CI co-star, Kathryn Erbe [who herself reunited with Murray as they co-starred in What About Bob?], for a free performance of “Enemy of the State” in Times Square!

I think I need L&O rehab. Last time I looked I had 127episodes in my queue, even if I watch 2 a nite I’ll probably watching them die I die!

I watch L&O regularly - I’ve seen every episode multiple times, it’s been my favorite show for years. Really glad the original run is still shown regularly and it’s nice having new episodes with the revival.

I never knew this little factoid, but - per a post on a L&O board on Reddit - apparently Jill Hennessy’s identical twin sister, Jacqueline, once filled in as Claire Kincaid for certain scenes in “Corpus Delecti” in S6 since Jill was busy filming a Homicide: Life On The Street crossover episode as Claire Kincaid at the time! However, her stint went uncredited.

I always knew she had an identical twin sister. I just never realized that she had appeared on L&O!

L&O on Pop right now - Shangri-La, one of my favorites.

Rodgers: Notice the feet.
Briscoe: I’m more of a leg man, doc.
