That looks fantastic and the price is outstanding. Pizza is my weakness.
I have recently discovered an unbelievably good frozen pizza called Motor City Pizza. I got it at Wegmans and it is also sold at Costco.
We had Motor City Pizza in my local store for a short while. Long enough for me to crave their bbq chicken one and then poof it is gone. The MCP style reminds me of Pizza Hut and Little Caesar’s pan pizza back in the 80’s when they were made right. What is served today is no bueno.
Today I had some Trader Joe’s fried rice with Costco brand naked chicken bites. And I am having to pace myself to one a week of Bobo’s pbj oatmeal thingies from Costco. I came upon them yesterday at my son’s house and pretended to steal the whole box. They said to take them because nobody likes them.
I am beyond jealous…
But!
Hubster brought me a sausage dog down to my other son’s house while ago. Fresh sausage, atw mustard chili onions slaw when he showed up to work on a tractor lawnmower to take to the turkey farm.
I clarified fresh sausage because I did NOT know until a couple years ago that fresh sausage links are pretty much regional in a small circle in NC. I went to a little roadside grill down towards Wilmington and they gave me smoked when I asked for a sausage dog and she had no clue what fresh was when I thought I had wrong order. I am about 60-70 miles from the coast where the grill was so I assumed it was at least eastern but I guess not. Many years ago, like 25, we found out that Bright Leaf brand red hotdogs (Smithfield NC) are regional when we couldn’t find them in the mountains.
I had the best shrimp and grits made by a very old lady who made it fresh in the lodge kitchen at my daughter in laws sister in laws shower. She was a quiet old lady not the rambunctious kind and shared her recipe with me. Well, she gave the ingredients because she was that kind of cook, some of this some of that.
I never liked grits (or polenta). It’s just not my thing, and I have very few ordinary things that I can’t find a way to enjoy.
And then, like you, I had an amazing version of Shrimp and Grits (while travelling to the Panhandle of Florida with endless gulf shrimp and New Orleans influence), and I discovered what needs to be done to grits for me to love them.
All I need is lots of fresh shrimp, butter, and spicy sausage and grits are great.
Yes Neese’s is fresh sausage. I don’t think they make sausage dogs though, they are fresh sausage in casings. But the meat is not smoked or a brautwurst. It is mostly a local radius that serves fresh sausage patties/links. IGA’s/Piggly Wiggly’s make their own and commercially there is Larry’s brand.
I don’t think I could get poke bowls down. And I have a very good control over my gag reflex. And yet here I am, gagging over it. I wish they made a cooked version, lol. I know, I know!
Tonight later I really, really want a trashy salad, meaning iceburg lettuce, grape tomatoes, freshly grated cheddar, and then just crunchy stuff and some meat topped with some Ken’s Thousand Island dressing and on top of that some finely ground black pepper from a tin can and Buying Beverly Hills episodes but it will have to wait.
Life has zagged when I was zigging along so eating from the fridge it is tonight. I think I have some Progresso chicken enchilada soup, topped with fried onions and some Mt Olive sweet heat banana peppers/juice. And if enough Trader Joe rosemary raisin crackers are left I will top them with a bit of butter and sliced cheddar.
This is almost literally what I had for dinner on Wednesday! When I walked into the supermarket after work to get some rolls needed for the dinner I had planned for my kids, they had a display by the door with some packaged salad meals. Just a big bowl of plain lettuce, with some meats and cheese, and a packet of dressing. Added the grape tomatoes when I got it home.
I always wanted to try frozen custard but that doesn’t seem to be a thing in Quebec. There was an ice cream place in the Eaton Center that had a mille feuille gelato which pieces of mille feuille in it, and I think that was the closest I’ve ever gotten.
