Astute but unconventional attorney Elsbeth Tascioni utilizes her singular point of view to make unique observations and corner brilliant criminals alongside the NYPD.
Thank you for starting this topic for me Jewel21!
Has anyone watched this show? It is delightful. I really havent watched any abc, nbc or cbs primetime shows in years. This year I decided to check out a few and this is one of them along with So Help Me Todd, Tracker and Will Trent. I like all of them but Elsbeth is my favorite.
First, I love the clothing that Elsbeth wears. The plots are decent but mostly I !ove her idiosyncrosies and the humor in the show. I also enjoy her speech pattern.
Years ago I worked with someone who was very much like her. Whenever I knew I would be working with her I wouldnt wear make up because I knew Id be laughing so hard that Id cry and my makeuo would run.
Theresa, like Elsbeth was not everybodys cup of tea. Some people were very annoyed by her. But she was actually very intelligent. I wondered at first if it was a fake schtick of her but as we spent more time together I realized she was the real deal.
Unfortunately, it turned out she had a drinking problem. Police were called to her house and she punched a cop. She ended up in rehab. I tried reaching out to her but she would nit respond. I think of her from time to time and now that Elseth is on I find myself wondering whatever happened to her. Its been 30 years since I saw her.
Anyway, I am enjoying this show and hope it makes it.
I really like this show. I hope it sticks around.
Spoiler
I KNEW the Captain wasn’t the corrupt one. I just wasn’t getting those vibes. The Lieutenant is a piece of crap to put the Captains career in danger.
I’ve seen parts of a few episodes and thought it was cute in a quirky way. I’m still debating adding it to the dvr. Though I do have Paramount Plus.
@MsMalin the mention of So Help Me Todd made me interested. That is one of my favorite new shows. I started recording Elsbeth but have no clue how it “feels” since I never watched the show she was on before getting this spin-off ( I think it is a spin-off ?) I deleted the episodes before watching because I thought it was going to be a preachy show. Would you compare it to SHMT in light heart humor? Monk like? I will give it a shot if anyone can give me a “feels” review, lol.
My first interest to watch Elsbeth was her fashion! I love SHMT Marcia Gay Harden’s fashion also! And her hair!
Yes, I would say it’s close to So Help Me Todd, mostly, but there is a serious plot line that brings Elisbeth to NY, so there’s that too. I say give it a try!
Stewed squash, I never watched The Good Wife and I dont think it matters. I love SHMT too. I would compare it to Columbo and Monk. Quirky, funny good story lines. Lightentertainment.
I never watched the Good Wife but I am really digging this show! Absolutely love it.
I like how we know who the killer is and how the characters have to figure it out.
I am still not sure about the Captain and his involvement in the corruption.
In the last episode “Artificial Genius”, I giggled that the CEO was a Elizabeth Holmes type person. Her acknowledgement of the lands, the cane, the statement of how she needed a room to detox were so on point of branding herself.
Her statement at the end of “i fooled rich people into giving me money i can fool a jury.” also made me laugh.
Elizabeth Holmes.was exactly who I thought of when I was watching.
Boy, the Elizabeth Holmes.story is something else! Talk about falling from grace!
Elsbeth really gets snort laughs from me. When she was playing with that expanding toy and got it stuck on her head…that was too funny.
A bit off topic but did you hear that the judge shaved off some time off of Holmes’ sentence?
I forgot to mention I am loving the friendship between Elsbeth and Kaya.
No, I didnt hear that. She will probably come out of prison and start a new scam.
Episode 9: “Sweet Justice”
I liked the bartender and let’s be honest, if he actually killed the right person, I don’t think many people would have cared.
I am glad that the Captain isn’t dirty.
On a related note I am so sad to see So Help Me Todd is cancelled. Loved that show.
