Such a shame that that wasn’t the actual ending to Great Barrier, the Nicole storyline would be okay if that was the end of it. It really jumped the shark with the other ending.
Obviously, you know I agree.
But it was after this that the scenarios used to keep Nicole free and on the show bordered on the ridiculous. Which is a shame that the show got stuck in the Nicole doom loop.
Glad “Frame” ended that, even if I hate that it wasn’t G/E who did the honors.
Yeah it just got ridiculous how Nicole kept escaping. And Frame was so unsatisfying, having Nicole killed offscreen by another villain instead of onscreen by Goren/Eames was just an unnatural, poor ending to the storyline. I almost always skip the Nicole episodes.
There was some franchise trivia posted elsewhere. I posted a bit in the SVU thread. But apparently, Jeff Goldblum and Saffron Burrows, who obviously were partnered on the show in S9, share the same birthday, October 22nd.
The info about Vincent D’Onofrio knowing magic and almost being a street magician was included, but I think many know about that by now. LOL!
Major Case was just on on Charge, this is one of the best later season episodes - it had the classic CI theme of detective vs master criminal, in this case Henry the forensics expert. I really liked how Nichols got the better of him and I liked how Rodgers got involved in the plot to trap Henry. The funny thing is is that Henry would’ve gotten away with it if he hadn’t interfered in the case and manufactured evidence, that’s what got Nichols suspicious and got him to look into Henry and that’s how he found out Henry lived near the victim and knew her. Henry’s arrogance and trying to pin the crime on someone else was his downfall.
This one and Family Values are my two favorite season 8 episodes.
Dylan Baker really seemed to have fun playing creepy Henry Morgan. And he was so smug when he thought Ross had managed to call Nichols off.
As you say, @Xeliou66 , Henry’s own arrogance brought him down.
Henry was a great villain, and yeah it’s interesting because it’s one case that I believe wouldn’t have been solved if Henry hadn’t gotten involved and tampered with evidence. It’s probably my favorite Nichols episode, and I liked seeing him and Eames work together - I liked the Nichols character overall, but he never had a good partner, both Wheeler and Stevens were duller than dirt, and he never had a good captain either, Callas was dull and Ross was an asshat.
Well, at least Ross died again last night in the first part of “Loyalty”!
I’ve never been able to make since of the plot of Loyalty whatsoever, I’m not really even sure of the reason behind Ross’ murder other than he was working with the FBI on something. But given that I never liked Ross at all I guess I just didn’t care that he got whacked. But who thought that Loyalty would be a good exit for Goren/Eames? That boggles my mind, it was an awful exit for them and I’m really glad they came back for season 10 to go out strong.
Yeah, “Loyalty” was an AWFUL exit. I wonder who saw such a downer of an episode and thought it was be the perfect ending for the partnership [at the time!] of Goren and Eames?
No wonder the fans rebelled. At least, likely because of that reaction, TPTB were kind enough to give the fans a better ending via a short final season.
I really have no idea who thought Loyalty would be a satisfying exit for Goren/Eames - truly mind boggling. It was a total bummer of an exit for Goren/Eames and a confusing mess of an episode. The L&O franchise has always been a mixed bag on exits but Loyalty was just terrible. So glad Goren/Eames returned for season 10 and got an actual satisfying send off.
Season 10 is now on Charge tonight - I like all 8 episodes from season 10 and it’s great that Goren/Eames came back for a final season. I also liked Joe Hannah as the captain, it was nice to have a likable captain again after the asshat Ross and the dull Callas.
Boots on the Ground was just on, it’s a strong episode - complex plot and all of the suspects turned out to be guilty of something and none were sympathetic. I liked how Goren figured it all out.
The Last Street in Manhattan is starting now, another really good episode.
All the perps in “Boots on The Ground” were awful, but Terrence Brooks was just beyond disgusting. Having a 12-year-old girl killed so he could get Rebecca, the girl’s cousin, to do his dirty work is just…gross.
I did love that mock salute that Bobby gave him as he was being handcuffed.
As for “The Last Street In Manhattan”, I have already said it is my favorite from the season. But I do agree that the entire season felt refreshed and strong as a whole.
On a side note, @Xeliou66 , did you finish Toronto CI yet?
Yeah Terrence was a pure evil sociopath, he was the worst of the worst in that episode but it’s one of those episodes where everyone was unsympathetic. I also loved the mock salute Goren did before cuffing him, that was classic Goren. It’s a great plot that felt a lot like CI from when it was best - seasons 1-5. The whole of season 10 had a “classic CI” feel to it, they went back to what made the show so good.
I have only the season finale episode of Toronto CI to watch - I’ve enjoyed all 9 episodes. As I’ve said before it’s great to have new CI episodes.
Season 1 back on Charge now - Poison is finishing up now, this is a great episode, Trudy was a bonkers villain, all she cared about was starting her boutique. And I couldn’t figure out what was up with the mom, she knew Trudy was guilty but didn’t say anything.
I love the Briscoe/Green cameo, and how Goren got them to leak the story. I liked when Deakins was pissed about it but Goren/Eames stayed quiet - it was one time I strongly disagreed with Deakins, the public needed to know the truth.
Like I said, if I were Trudy’s mother, no way would I cover for her over SEVEN murders, with one of them her own son-in-law!
Yeah Trudy’s mom was just kind of spineless and pitiful.
It’s a great episode but they were lucky that Goren’s plan worked and Trudy fell into their trap, otherwise they would’ve been in a bad situation since they charged the mom.
Courtney B. Vance and his wife, Angela Bassett, are developing a Philadelphia cop drama for NBC:
Best Defense was just on Charge, great episode, Peter Bonham was so pathetic and spineless, trying to send his wife to jail just because he was upset she was more successful than him. Funny that the actor also played a villainous prosecutor in season 8 of the Mothership, the one who was fixing cases and murdered the bail bondsman.
There was a slight continuity error in the episode about who would get alimony if the Bonham’s divorced, first they said Peter would get alimony from his wife, then they said he wouldn’t get anything. That was a wired continuity flaw, a rarity for CI. Still a great episode and the ending confrontation where Linda realized what her husband did was memorable. I liked how Carver played a big role as well, and even affected the plot by telling Peter to call Linda when he got the call while they were eating.
I liked that, but in reality, I think that one detail would be cause for Carver’s recusal, since he knew both persons involved in the case, and was with one of them while it was being unwittingly perpetrated.
So, in reality, Carver should be nowhere near this case, but I understand why he was since Carver likely could not appear otherwise!
