You are probably right that it would lead to Carver’s recusal as being the consulting ADA on the case, since he knew both of the Bonham’s and was Peter Bonham’s supervisor it seemed, and he might be called as a witness given that he affected the plot of the case by telling Peter to call Linda, it’s interesting that now knowing Peter was the mastermind he was probably pissed that Carver got in his way, he probably was planning to kill the guy that day instead of later at the friend’s house.
It’s a great episode but yeah Carver wouldn’t be the riding ADA on it, I’m sure Arthur Branch would’ve apppointed someone else to take the lead on the case who wasn’t personally involved. And it did seem like Carver’s judgement was compromised and Goren was right to keep him in the dark, it was the only way to nail Peter.
‘Probability’ alert! On Charge right now!
Courtney B. Vance did ‘Random Roles,’ the AV Club feature where Will Harris talks to performers about, well, Random Roles!

Charge had a great run of episodes last night - first Suite Sorrow, then See Me, then Probability then Monster
Suite Sorrow has one of the wildest twists with the dad sleeping with his daughter’s fiancé and them scheming to get control of the hotel, that was a crazy plot.
See Me is very strong, Dysart was one of CI’s more sympathetic perps in that he was severely mentally ill but he murdered someone and butchered others, he committed repulsive crimes but he genuinely believed he was trying to help. I liked Deakins and Carver getting larger roles in that episode.
Probability is a strong episode for Goren with him figuring out the patterns and the perp is memorable as well.
Monster’s plot was fairly predictable but it was still very compelling to watch it play out and I liked the final confrontation where they nailed the murderous cop.
FPS is such a confusing jumbled mess of an episode, I still can’t follow the plot from started to finish - how the murderer staged the whole credit card fraud scheme was just puzzling. Deakins line about the murderer owing him a bottle of aspirin was great as it was exactly how I felt about the plot - it gives you a headache trying to follow it. And was the perp in love with his best friend? He had a creepy obsession with him.
Mad Hops is finishing up now, it’s a great episode, probably my favorite of the Bishop episodes. Strong plot about the basketball coach in love with the player’s mom and was so desperate to try to have a relationship with her he committed two murders.
Yeah, F.P.S. was confusing, but I did like the callback to Wally Stevens preceding Goren’s meltdown.
As we have said, the show was good with callbacks, and it was interesting how the Stevens case tied into this.
I liked that callback as well, good continuity. But the case itself was a jumbled mess.
Tonight’s marathon seems to be another theme for Labor Day Weekend, since it is out of order. Guessing dirty/murderous employees?
“Pardoner’s Tale” - dirty governor.
“Zoonotic” - dirty doctors.
“Consumed” - dirty ex-husband and destitute, vengeful ex-wife out for revenge.
“Unchained” - dirty cop.
Seems as good a guess as any.
Yeah that’s the theme - corruption - don’t forget the murder victim in Zoonotic was a dirty cop, there was political corruption in Pardoner’s Tale, Unchained had the dirty cops and while Consumed is a bit of an odd choice, it had a cop suspected of murder. I noticed that was a theme throughout the day on Charge in the episodes of other shows they aired - I don’t watch them nearly as much as I watch CI but I noticed Without a Trace and the CSI shows had themes of corruption in their episodes on Charge today.
CI alumna Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio is returning to the franchise - but not as Capt. Zoe Callas.
She is joining Law & Order: Organized Crime as a woman named Isabella Spezzano, who has past ties with Elliot Stabler.
Interesting, another “repeat offender” actor in the Dick Wolf universe. I don’t watch OC anymore, it’s just a soap opera that I have no interest in, but it’s interesting that they are bringing back another former main cast member as a new character.
The Good Doctor was just on - this is one of my all time favorites - great case and Goren and Carver were at their best - it’s interesting because it was obvious what happened from the start but the investigation was so well done it’s all time great episode plus it was great to see Carver in court. Goren was great getting under the skin of the smug and arrogant Kelmer and Carver in court was awesome - CI’s biggest mistake was not using Carver in court more. This episode was CI at its best.
Enemy Within is on now, decent episode with colorful characters but the plot was rather ridiculous and convoluted IMO.
I never liked “The Enemy Within” much. But the end when Bobby emphasizes, “That’s right. You. Did. Nothing.” was pretty good!
By the way, there will be a day-long Saturday marathon on Charge! both this Saturday and next for the couch potatoes. Except this Saturday’s marathon, with the exception of the “Loyalty” two parter, is all Zack Nichols episodes, Seasons 8 and 9.
The Saturday after, on 10/5, will be Goren/Eames, spanning from Seasons 1 through 7, in no particular order.
Enemy Within is one of season 1’s weakest episodes IMO, very convoluted plot. It comes right in between two of my favorite season 1 episodes - Good Doctor and Third Horseman.
And yeah I saw where they would be having the marathon of Nichols episodes this Saturday - I like Nichols fine it’s just too bad he never had a good partner or captain.
I see Charge is doing CI episodes with a “spooky/creepy” theme tonight for Halloween week. 4 pretty good choices - The Gift, Shibboleth, Scared Crazy and The Healer.
Oddly, however, only three were shown. “Shibboleth” was repeated as soon as it ended!
If I recall, that happened once before when Charge! first started airing the show. “World’s Fair” was supposed to air, but the episode before it also repeated twice.
Just strange.
That is odd. Yes I remember the instance where World’s Fair wasn’t shown as well - now it is shown just like every other episode though - in fact I just saw it a couple of days ago on Charge as they are on season 6 now - as I’ve said before I’m not a fan of season 6 and I really dislike the changes they made to the show, but I do like the 3 episode run of World’s Fair, Privilege and Albatross, those are 3 very good episodes.
Kathryn Erbe recently sat down with the WPIX TV station in NYC to discuss her new play, Ashes and Ink. However, CI was also mentioned, complete with photos of her and Vincent on the show. She actually looks fabulous with the grayer hair!
The interview can be seen here:
Frame is starting on Charge now, and it’s weird seeing the episodes with Frank Goren now that the same actor is DA Baxter on the Mothership now - such remarkably different characters.
I’ll say again this episode was the only bad moment for ME Rodgers in her many episodes - she was out of line giving Goren’s personal info to Ross and Goren had every right to be livid. Ugh, I hated the implications that Rodgers was dating asshat Ross - Rodgers was so awesome and Ross was just a douche. Ross showed he had no trust in Goren in this episode once again.
Season 8 starts next - with Playing Dead, Rock Star and Identity Crisis - I like season 8 more than most it seems, it wasn’t classic CI but it put the soapy stuff on the back burner more and got back to case centric stories. And I like Zach Nichols, too bad he never had a good partner.
Yeah, Frank Goren and Nicholas Baxter are chalk and cheese, but Tony Goldwyn is great at playing both.
As I have said prior, I think Rodgers knew she was out of line as far as Goren’s personal stuff went, which is why she covered for him in the lab.
And I don’t hate S8. It was just sort of jumbled with the episodes airing in no particular order and then being cut short by the Writers’ Strike.
