Is there a law on the franchise that all the cops must have horrible relatives? Riley and his brother, Rollins and her clan, Bobby and Frank.
I sense a pattern!

Happy Heavenly 89th Birthday to the one and only Jerry Orbach. His son, Chris, posted a sweet family photo of himself (holding his nephew), his brother, and their dad from about 30 years ago, according to him.
Tonightâs episode was too melodramatic - the ending of Priceâs visiting his dad was just overboard and plus we had Maroun acting like more of an advocate than a lawyer - shades of Olivia Benson. The prosecution seemed caught off guard by the defense having its own expert which was very weird. Baxterâs scenes were good and I liked the investigation, but Iâm sick of personal melodrama being infused.
Good episode tonight, very compelling. I liked the case a lot and the issues it raised, and I didnât find anyone annoying - I understood why Shaw was sympathetic to the shooter but Riley was right at the end that no matter what happened Shaw wouldnât have murdered someone when he was a kid. The insight into Shawâs past felt natural and not at all forced and I liked that we got a bit more backstory on him and that it was different than the usual âblack vs blueâ stuff that they frequently do with Shaw and other African American protagonists.
The DAâs had no choice but to yank the deal and the shooter didnât get a lot of sympathy from me, he killed an innocent man just for doing his job.
I liked Baxterâs scenes a lot, wish they would use him a bit more but heâs really good as DA.
The principal wasnât a bad guy I felt, he made a big mistake, especially in not telling the victim about the threats and the gun, but 5 years was a bit harsh for him IMO. It was an interesting issue but the majority of blame lied with the shooter not the principal.
Overall a good and compelling episode.
Pretty good episode tonight - weâve seen other cases about toxic environments at private schools, and about parents covering for kids, but this was solid. In all likelihood the daughter did the murder, but since the mom wanted to confess and fall on her sword, and there was no definitely proof either way, they had no choice but to accept the momâs confession, Baxter was correct about it, it wasnât easy to swallow but it was either charge no one or accept the momâs guilty plea.
The Baxter/Price scene was interesting, Price doesnât have complete trust in Baxter the way he did Jack, while Baxter had no agenda here I can see why Price thought otherwise and wanted to clear the air, but I can see why Baxter wasnât happy about Priceâs assumption. That relationship is interesting, and I enjoy Baxterâs scenes a lot. I also liked his brief scene with Shaw/Riley.
But Brady sucks - she isnât working for me at all. An LT should know better than to lie to and manipulate a kid basically having a panic attack who would say anything to get out of the situation - it was her who screwed things up. The judge was right to toss the confession - it felt coerced. Brady seems like a loose cannon and a rule bender, and sheâs very abrasive - she makes the police side less enjoyable which is too bad because Riley and Shaw are awesome.
This episode was trash - disgusting propaganda to bash people who Dick Wolf disagrees with. And thatâs all Iâll say because I donât want to start a political debate or village forum rules.
Oh and Maroun can leave anytime, Iâm sick of her whining, her feeling sympathy for murderers, and her acting like an activist. Sheâs basically become Olivia Benson if she were a lawyer.
At least Brady wasnât annoying.
Seasons 1 through 20 set to stream on Hulu, beginning December 16, 2024! (As of now, Peacock only has later seasons.)
This was probably the best episode of the season so far - really strong plot and investigation even if it was somewhat obvious where the plot was headed - and a good use of each character. I really enjoyed Riley and Shaw and their investigation, and Brady was finally fleshed out some beyond being one note and surly. I didnât find Brady anymore likable after this episode, and Iâm interested to see where the plot goes with IAB talking to her, but she did become more interesting.
The legal stuff was good as well - Maroun wasnât annoying, Price was solid and Baxter was good if somewhat underused.
I liked the trap they set for the killer, caught me off guard as well.
A strong finish to the fall season and I look forward to more new episodes in January!!
Great episode tonight - good twisted case, I didnât see the FBI twist coming, and a nice investigation and trial. Price and Baxter were both strong, I liked Priceâs prosecution and seeing some fire from him to the point of the judge rebuking him, and Baxter showed guts throughout in seeing justice served against the rogue agent despite possibly taking a political hit. I really enjoy Baxter, I like how they made him very different from Jack in personality and background but still committed to justice. Shaw/Riley were strong as always. Iâm a bit annoyed by Brady getting so much screen time, but sheâs become more likable lately and is gelling better. We saw the tech expert Yee again tonight after being absent until this point in season 24. No personal soapy nonsense was nice. Great episode!!
Another stellar episode for the Mothership tonight - I figured a Diddy episode was coming, surprised the Mothership did it before SVU. This had a good investigation and trial and some good stuff for each character.
I have to say I didnât feel sympathy for the undercover cop, she put her personal feelings ahead of her duty to tell the truth, it was her fault she blew up her career, not Shawâs. Riley was spot on that they canât pick and choose and sometimes bend the rules, that leads to chaos. But I got that Shaw was pained by seeing the undercover cop destroy her career since she joined the force with good intentions and believed things can change for the better, but she made her choice to condone vigilantism and thatâs not okay.
Baxter reminded me of his predecessor McCoy with his strong stance against vigilante justice, saying they canât go easy on people taking the law into their own hands. Thatâs something the franchise has always been consistent on, not tolerating vigilantism, and I couldnât agree more.
Price was good as well and Maroun wasnât irritating.
3 very good episodes in a row for the Mothership!!
Rolling Stone magazine has an article about Law & Order [since the original 20 seasons are now streaming on Hulu!] and how it ties into New Yorkâs âgrittyâ past:
Tonightâs episode had a good case but the Price personal melodrama weakened it and frankly made Nolan unsympathetic much of the episode, he was being selfish about his dadâs situation and it was affecting his work to the point he might shouldâve asked Baxter to take him off the case. I was glad he offered a deal at the end as it was clear the defendantâs story was true and it was the right thing to do, and I liked the scene where he told Baxter he was offering a plea - Baxter could sense Price had a lot of emotions but didnât pry and it didnât become soapy. But I didnât care at all about the scenes with Nolan and his brother and Iâm sick of personal melodrama on the Mothership - stick to the cases.
But the case itself was compelling and had a lot of good twists, I couldnât tell where it was going, Shaw/Riley were great as usual and Brady has grown on me.
The case was fine. The issues with Nolan, letâs just say it hit a bit too close to home for me, having just recently lost my own father. So, I sort of zoned out on purpose in those scenes.
But Iâm annoyed with the âDanny Ross-ificationâ of Lt. Brady. Meaning, doing everything her DETECTIVES should be doing. Yes, even Van Buren sometimes questioned suspects but - thatâs the key word - sometimes. The franchise has very much blurred the lines between the leaders and subordinates, and I donât care for it.
And yes, Olivia Benson doing EVERYTHING on SVU probably made the writers think if it worked there, it can spread across the franchise. The trouble is, it doesnât work there, either. Sigh.
I miss when the franchise at least tried to stay within the realm of reality.
I agree that itâs a bit tiresome to see Brady in the interrogation room in every episode, Iâm not sure why they are giving her such a larger role as compared to Dixon. The character has grown on me some but I do feel like theyâve given her a lot more screen time than they usually give the LT.
Pretty good and very disturbing episode until the end - Maroun made me sick, Iâm so tired of her whining and feeling sorry for defendants and frankly she needs to get the hell out of the DAs office if she canât get on board. This sorry excuse of a mother deserved more than 1 year behind bars, and if Maroun canât separate her personal feelings from the law she has no business being an ADA. Disappointed that Price bowed to her and made a deal just because Maroun got all huffy with him. Maroun has become just as bad as Serena.
Shaw/Riley were strong as usual, I liked their canvas for witnesses and their detective work, and while I get sick of Brady getting so much screentime I liked her telling the mom she made her sick. Nice seeing an ME as well.
I like the show but I really hope Maroun is out at the end of this season, sheâs becoming as bad as Olivia Benson from SVU.
I thought Serena Southerlyn was soft toward defendants, but damned if Samantha Maroun doesnât make Southerlyn look like Abbie Carmichael by comparison.
Maroun needs to remember she is supposed to prosecute criminals - or GTFO and become a defense lawyer.
Couldnât agree more about Maroun, Iâm sick of her, I hope she leaves at the end of this season - sheâs shown she canât separate her personal feelings from the job and she doesnât agree with holding criminals accountable in many instances. She reminds me more and more of Olivia Benson, whoâs downright insufferable. I was very disappointed Price caved to her after her whine fest.
Good episode tonight - I liked having a more ordinary case instead of a sensational one or one with the rich and famous, this felt like classic L&O in many ways. Riley/Shaw are the best part of the show and their investigation was great as usual and had good detective work. Price was starting to get on my nerves though with him wondering if he should go soft - I was 100% in agreement with Baxter and his statement about how they have to follow the justice system and hold people accountable was great, and I liked how he told the other lawyer he wouldnât accept restorative justice for murder - Iâm okay with alternatives to jail in some cases but not for murder and I was very glad Nick held his ground and the perp got the sentence he deserved. Good episode overall.
I hated Shaw for the first time ever tonight, he was acting like fucking Olivia Benson from SVU in this one, putting himself and his friend ahead of the job. He should be fired/suspended if he got the witness deployed overseas. I mean Rileyâs own brother screwed up a case and Vince did nothing improper and had his brother arrested when he choked on every chance to do the right thing. Shaw acted like because the victim was rich his life didnât matter as much and that was disgusting. I hated how they crapped on an up til now awesome character and I hope that never happens again, we donât need a St Olivia on the Mothership.
Price/Baxter/Maroun were good tonight.
Decent episode tonight, but the second half was predictable and only unique because of Baxterâs dating the defense attorney. I thought she was slimy and I was surprised more didnât come of her basically committing witness tampering, also she was slimy trying to pit Nick and Nolan against each other and I was glad Nick called her on it. But it was a bad idea for them to be having dinner together during the actual trial.
The investigation was good as usual, I liked Brady at the club and her grabbing some mints from there and giving them to the detectives at the station was amusing. But I missed Shaw/Riley together, weird how Shaw vanished after the start. At least Brady isnât annoying anymore.
Not bad but I do wish there was fewer personal stuff in the episodes.
