Thank you so much. We lost our sweet, 19 yo black kitty early this year. We lasted less than 2 weeks before we went to the shelter and fell in love with this orange boy. Such a different personality from Midnight. Midnight was very social. Leo takes longer to warm up and hides when new people are over. He is also more playful than our elderly cat was. His zoomie times are hilarious. He was just what we needed to help us deal with our loss - first of my Mom at the end of last year and then of our Midnight. Having a loving lap cat has been just the right medicine for two retired people!
As one who had many dogs growing up, I found each animal has their own personality and quirks. But they all helped fill a place in my heart when a previous dog had died. They will never replace them, but the new pet earns their own spot in your heart.
They are adorable
They are both precious, @scarlett45 !
I bet that tile feels nice and cool to him!
PeeWee got a haircut and a bath yesterday at the vet’s office. He’s looking and feeling good, he had gotten very furry so I’m sure he feels better with a haircut as it is very hot here in Florida.
Look at that sweet baby!
Cosmo was being a silly boy and unsure if he wanted to go out in the heat, but he decided to head out the back basement door after following me to do laundry.
You have a beautiful dog as well.
Dogs are just awesome, such loyal, loving pets.
I have had 2 wonderful dogs - I had a dog in my childhood named Tenderloin - he was found abandoned on the side of a road near my childhood home, me and my parents adopted him, he lived for 16 years and was an awesome dog. PeeWee was adopted from relatives, he’s 12 years old now, he’s a wonderful dog - extremely friendly and playful.
He looks so dapper!
PeeWee got a brand new towel for his favorite spot by the door yesterday and he loves it. He likes to lay by the door and alert me if he hears anyone outside, great watchdog.
PeeWee and his beloved towel almost match, too.
I bought all new decorations for my fish tank yesterday, threw out all of the old ones that had become algae ridden, and now the tank is looking much nicer. It’s very relaxing to sit and watch!
That fish tank looks awesome, @Xeliou66 !
Yeah it’s a great tank - I’ve always loved keeping aquariums, I’ve had them since I was a kid, and this is the nicest one I’ve had - it’s a 60 gallon tank, I’ve had it for 4 years. It’s very relaxing and enjoyable to watch.
My indoor-only cats had fleas in November (I think they actually had them from September, I just didn’t realize). I gave them 6 months of Nexgard Combo, did all the cleaning, daily vacuuming etc. They’ve been off for about three months. Today I noticed what looks like it could be a flea bite on one of the cats I don’t understand why they got it another time, it’s very frustrating. What was explained to me is that you technically don’t even have to do all the cleaning because the treated cats essentially become the weapon - when the eggs hatch and latch on to them to feed, they then die, and fleas cannot survive solely off of human blood. Three months is the recommended treatment length.
It might not be fleas, I am switching her food also and maybe she is allergic, or it is just a one-off. But I ignored the bites as “maybe allergies or a one-off” last time until I actually found a flea on one of the cats, so I think I’m going to treat them anyways. It’s just so expensive for the two of them to do this long-term, and I don’t know why they should need it!
Our indoor only cats got fleas in 2009, from a raccoon living in the roof it was a PITA- I am sorry! Also I wonder did the cats get into it with each other and maybe its a healing injury?
I have found that with my indoor dogs that I can extend the treatments. I use Comfortis. One pill is $30 and it is supposed to be given monthly. I get the large pill (for his weight) and give him 1/2. Then 8 weeks if I see fleas on him I will give 1/2 of the 1/2. I only have one indoor dog now but also have an outdoor dog. I do the same treatment for both.
It is something you can play around with if it isn’t a true infestation. Some flea seasons are worse than others. There is also an immunity built up over time. The Comfortis is not labeled for ticks but I told my ( old fashioned) vet that the dogs seemed to not have ticks with the medicine and he said they couldn’t market it as such but it did kill ticks also. He also gave the advice at the beginning of this paragraph.
Use your instinct to help with the cost and dosage. I can go years and not see fleas and then do the dosage above to knock it out when I do see fleas. At most I give the dogs 2 pills a year total when I do see fleas. For each dog.
